How this happened...
There's a story behind this. It involves a common interest in escaping to the Smoky Mountains to enjoy the amazing activities and attractions the area has to offer. We didn't ride motorcycles or drive Corvettes, and there wasn't a single Mini-Cooper among us. So the Tail of the Dragon wasn't our main focus, but we all appreciated the beautiful weather, scenery, and the peaceful environment that the Bryson City and Robbinsville area has. We couldn't overlook the great opportunity afforded by the convenience to the Cherohala Skyway and Deal's Gap, so we have always considered making this property motorcycle friendly as a priority. We all had experience as customers, frequently renting vacation rental cabins either as a couple for a romantic retreat or as a group of friends for a fun getaway that became an annual tradition.
After renting vacation cabins for years, one piece of this group decided to make the investment in their own cabin, and behold Thunderhead. That process involved a few trips working with a great Realtor who also happened to own a vacation cabin rental company. After seeing the beauty of The Pines and becoming more friend than Realtor, he invested in a neighboring cabin, and boom: Buckhorn was born. Somewhere along this process, another piece of this group decided to get on that bandwagon too, and the Big Swag Lodge became the icing on the cake in an amazing collection of charming, well-appointed, Smoky Mountain vacation rentals.
So whether you need a one bedroom romantic getaway, a two-bedroom couple's retreat, a three bedroom family vacation, or a multiple-cabin combination for a family reunion or driving club weekend, The Pines at the Tail of the Dragon is a perfect spot.
